Les Allobroges

Métro: Maraîchers

The low-rent neighborhood where this restaurant is found could not be further from the tourist track, but that is what keeps prices at Les Allobroges so magically low. It is off the beaten track but well worth the effort.

The restaurant is very quiet and refined and everything from the spacious and warmly decorated dining rooms warmly lit by candle light to the stylish menus speak elegance. The service is professional and attentive.

Les Allobroges offers a four course menu, which includes an entrée, a plat principal, fromage and dessert for 34 Euros.  The choice of entrées includes duck foie gras. Main courses change frequently, but offen include lotte (monkfish) rizotto with cèpes (porcini mushrooms), cabillaud, and haddock brandade.  If you like lamb shanks, try the souris d'agneau braisée à l'ail confit.

Chocolate lovers won't want to miss the marquise au chocolat with crème anglaise, or the gros cigare for dessert.

There is also a vegetarian menu.

The wines run between 20 - 40€/bottle, and they also have selections by the glass or half-bottle.

It is a little confusing as to which way to go when you come out of the Maraîchers métro station the first time, but the restaurant is just a couple of blocks away.
