We were in Paris the night that our first grandchild was born. We didn't want to go far from the phone for dinner so we chose this restaurant which was near our apartment.  We have been returning ever since.

La Rotisserie du Beaujolais is directly across from the Tour d'Argent.  It is very comfortable and seems to be frequentd by about an equal mix of Parisians and tourists.  From the dining room, you can watch the chickens, ducks and other meats being roasted on the large gas fired rotisserie.  If you ask for a table in one of the windows, you can see both the kitchen and outside to the river. Table 31 is our favorite table

Entrées include terrine de foie gras, saumon mariné, oeufs en meurette and escargots. Often they will have herring, which is served family style in a large dish from which you help yourself and which is removed when you have had your fill.

Main courses feature roasted chicken and other meats, as well as cabillaud, lotte and sole meunière.

As its name implies, there is a good choice of beaujolais wines.

La Rotisserie du Beaujolais doesn't boast the finest food in Paris.  But it is good, the welcome is always friendly and the ambiance is pure Parisian brasserie.
